The Spirit enjoins us to build friendships with those who differ from us

In a world painfully wounded and fragmented by competing self-interests, ideologies, exclusive claims to truth which demand all other truth claims to be false, and by the perverse human will to win over another’s interests at all costs, the Spirit enjoins us Christians to find new ways of building warm friendships with… brothers and sisters whose convictions, premises and doctrines may polarise with our own.

Christ’s love can empower us to not only befriend one another of very different convictions, premises and doctrines, but to even listen to one another with open hearts, in spite of each being firmly convinced in our own mind.
