Grace and law

Damaging to Christian spirituality is the miss-footed assumption we must balance “grace” and “law,” overlooking that law itself is an expression of God’s grace. Failing this leads to establishing external behaviours as “badges” of presumed membership in God’s family rather than as humble, habitual practices at Christ-like virtue.

Damaging to Christian spirituality is the miss-footed buzzword, “no grace / law mixture!” The slogan reflects how deeply the antinomian spirit ensnares many today, causing them to overlook how the New Testament uses Mosaic Law language for describing life in Christ. By dismissing the language of law in New Testament descriptives of life in Christ, we unwittingly change the grace of God into a licence for sin.
