What is “freedom?”

What is the meaning of “freedom” in Christian spirituality?
“Freedom in Christ” is not about doing whatever we feel like doing. Rather, “freedom” refers to an acquired capacity to discern the rightness or wrongness of our acts, and thereby, through received habitual grace given to us through the Spirit’s indwelling– align our acts with the acts of Jesus.

This is why the Scripture describes the aim of “freedom” as serving one another; more specifically as, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” (Galatians 5:14).
