As a Pentecostal, Monte envisions fresh outpourings of the Spirit for the 21st century world, empowering the powerless through preaching the spiritual, social, and revolutionary power of Jesus as Saviour, Sanctifier, Baptiser, Healer and Coming King.
Monte comes with a broad ministry background and experience in both large and small churches. While based in and out of Singapore since 1989, he has served on the pastoral staff for Assemblies of God as well as Anglican churches, and has ministered within some 15 nations in Southeast Asia and Africa.
In one of Singapore’s largest churches (Victory Family Centre), Monte served as a regional missions director, where he raised up mission teams, established church planting targets and cared for mission works in East and West Africa, which involved extensive traveling and ministry in those regions. For two plus years he pastored a mission church in Accra, Ghana. Other portfolios have involved ministry as a cell pastor and a Christian Education director. He has also been a lecturer in Asia Centre for Evangelism and Mission, and Assemblies of God Bible College, where he taught theological and pastoral ministry courses in both undergrad and graduate levels. He had also taught in the Africa Centre for Evangelism and Mission in Jinja, Uganda, and had ministered throughout Uganda. He has delivered more than 80 baccalaureate and master level courses.
Monte is a seasoned speaker, having engaged a broad range of audience platforms and age groupings. He is experienced with pulpit ministry to large audiences of over a thousand plus. He has preached in churches for special events such as Christmas, Easter, Pentecost Sunday and other special events.
He has taught seminars in areas such as spiritual formation, spiritual gifts and ministry, leadership development, and small group ministry. He has facilitated staff retreats and team-building events. In his role as a freelance life trainer, Monte has delivered over 400 training projects, workshops, courses, talks, and camps in local junior college, secondary and primary schools.
Since 2012, Monte has been a member of the Society for Pentecostal Studies (SPS, USA), and has presented papers in the 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016 annual SPS meetings. Monte is also a co-founder of the 7,000+ member Facebook forum, Pentecostal Theology Worldwide.
Monte has published articles and book reviews several journals worldwide (listed below). His 2013 SPS paper (“The Pentecostal Triple Way: An Ecumenical Model of the Pentecostal Via Salutis and Soteriological Experience”) is published in the book, A Future for Holiness: Pentecostal Explorations, ed. Lee Roy Martin (Cleveland, TN: CPT Press, 2013).
In 2002 Monte earned a M.Div. degree (summa cum laude) in theology from Asia Pacific Theological Seminary in The Philippines. While there, Monte ministered in the Upper Luzon region by preaching and conducting leadership and ministry seminars in AG leadership meetings and in local churches.
Other academic credentials include an M.A. in New Testament studies from the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary (Fresno, California), a B.A. in journalism, and post-baccalaureate studies in education from California State University, Fresno, where he was born and raised.
Monte and his wife Jee Fong, have been married since 1999. Jee Fong has also actively served the Lord as a cell group leader, adult Christian Ed teacher, and especially as a worship singer and leader. Over past years, Jee Fong has delivered private coaching and vocal workshops to individuals, small groups and church worship teams.
