Don’t yet rush to Easter. Spend some time at the cross. During the holocaust, at the death camps, they hanged a child at the gallows; he died a slow death. Someone cried out, “Where is merciful God?” Another sneered, “There he is, hanging from these gallows.” But he was right. God was and is there in our suffering. In the midst of evil, God is present and experiences in Himself, the very pain of that evil.
